In the initial stage of conventional contracting, the entire scope of work is defined and awarded to a single Main Contractor, who will be responsible for the completion of the same as per the project schedule. The mode of operation & finalization of individual work packages is left to the discretion of the Main Contractor. Sub-contractors come under the direct control and responsibility of the Main Contractor, who is fully responsible for the proper co-ordination of various contractors as well as the scope of work in providing on-site facilities to ensure smooth execution of the project.
The contract is usually executed with or without the materials in the scope of the contractor. However, the scope of works intended may vary depending on the prevalent requirements of the customer, such as Earthwork / Substructure works / Structure works / Shell & Core works / Civil Structural and Finishes or Turnkey including MEP works.
